What Are Squeeze Pages?

A squeeze page is very often misunderstood. The biggest error individuals make, is to try to make a sale straight off the page. This is a definite no, no!

What are squeeze pages? … they serve one purpose and one purpose only …and that comes down to your list. Your single page is specifically designed to build your customer base. A good page is designed to be very simple, in fact, almost sparse. You want to be able to capture your visitors attention quickly, and for them to react quickly – by taking action – what action? ….you want them on your list, they should visit your page, be ‘gripped’ by your offer, and then fill in their details – usually their email address or email and name.

So if you are not selling on your squeeze page, what are you doing? You are giving your visitor a free gift. Not a junk ‘widget’ but something of genuine value, the more perceived value the better.

The gift you offer should be relevant to the particular niche, to which you want your visitor to become a customer. So for example, you may offer your visitor a free download of an eBook’ … Such as ‘CREATE YOUR FIRST WEBSITE BY 3:45 THIS AFTERNOON

The relevance to your niche of the above – as an example – is that once this potential customer has filled in, and submitted the Page form, they are on your list. The form, is of course integrated with an autoresponder …you can send out broadcasts or set up automated emails to send out to your list over a set period of days. So, you may well send out a regular newsletter for example ….relevant to the same niche as the free eBook on ‘Creating Your First Website’.

When creating content for a squeeze page you essentially need:

  • A stand out headline …followed by:
  • Tell e’m what it is
  • Tell e’m what it does
  • Tell e’m how they’ll benefit
  • Tell e’m how to get it ….   ‘submit your name and and Email here’

At all costs, keep your page simple. Professional looking yes, flashy no. Too many flashing images and clickable links, leads to indecision. Your page should have only three basic elements:

  1. The free gift or gifts
  2. The benefits of the gifts
  3. A sign up form to get the gifts

And that is essentially it.

If you do feel the need to put an extra link on a squeeze page so they are re-directed somewhere else …always make sure you set it to open in a ‘new-window’ so they don’t click away from your Page.

Another thing you should consider for your Page is video and/or audio …this is a definite attention grabber and done in the correct way, has been shown to increase sign ups.

The key lesson to take away from this article …is ‘DO NOT TRY TO SELL ON YOUR SQUEEZE PAGE’. Your page has only one purpose, it is a ‘front-face’ to attract potential customers to join your list.

Another point to remember, when setting up your autoresponder form ….is to never ask for more information than email address and name, by default. The more information you ask for on the form, the less sign ups you’ll get. The most that should be compulsory for them to opt-in is email and name, any other form fields should be optional. The exception of course, is if you will be sending goods to their real address.

One small tip to end on: the Tahoma font for headlines and the Georgia font for content, look very pleasing to the eye on squeeze pages – and indeed, on websites in general.

Get Paid Posting on Forums and Blogs

After I was introduced me to Adfly (Pay-Per-Click)… I spent around 4 hours doing some research:

In any business… you should always be looking at leverage. How much leverage in any business action do you get on your efforts.

I am always looking at the numbers and treat running a business almost like a science. Numbers fascinate me. And I like to study the ROI (return on investment). Particularly the return on investment of time for ammount of effort put in.

Linkn (Pay-Per-Click) for example pay out $7 dollars per 1000 clicks as apposed to Adfly’s $4.

This is an example of identifying the most efficient ROI for your effort…. this of course is based on the assumption – that all other things are equal – between these two services, and it is as easy to get the clicks with one program as it is in another. This would perhaps require a split test. Creating virtually identical splash pages for example… but one has the ‘Adfly’ URL and one has the ‘Linkn’ URL and then split them in the same ad campaign and check the numbers.

This is something I don’t personally have time to do, as you would perhaps have to clock up several thousand clicks to get back enough relevant data to tell a story.

I consider the following service to have a greater ROI than both Adfly and Linkn:

Have you ever wished that online money-making opportunities were more like work in ‘real life’ – that you could simply complete a task, and be paid a fixed amount of money for it? If so, I’ve got great news!

I want to introduce you to a network of forums and blogs where you will GET PAID for every single comment you post. The way it works is ingeniously simple. Forum and blog owners pay money to get quality comments on their sites, and you get paid for providing those comments!

On average, you’ll earn an amazing $1 for every twelve comments you post.

Click here to watch the video.

What’s the catch, you might be asking? There isn’t one. The network is completely free to join, and you’ll never be asked to pay anything. Better still, you can request the cash you’ve earned at any time, and you’ll have it in your Paypal account within hours! There aren’t many money-making sites that can match that!

The trouble with most ‘paid-for-action’ services ….such as ‘Tester’ and ‘Paid for Survey’ sites is more often than not… there are no ‘jobs’ you have to wait twiddling your thumbs till a Survey or Test comes along. Even if each Survey or Test pays reasonable rates…. the jobs are so few and far between, its not worth your effort.

This service is not like that… you can post daily to your hearts content (yes, some blogs and forums have a limit on how many posts you can make in a day… but it doesn’t matter, because there are so many, when you reach a limit, you move on to the next one), and watch the points clock up… and then convert those points to cash whenever you choose.

Who is the Self Leader?

The self leader is any individual, who learns to integrate objective facts, and separate them from subjective opinions. Objective facts of reality will not budge …based upon an individuals whim or desire.

Since this Blog is largely based around marketing, this article is focused around that area of productivity. The productive individual, who gets things done, and does so in a specific way, that leads to successful outcomes, whether they know it or not, has learned to integrate certain aspects of reality.

The Self leader was first identified by the business entrepreneur Mark Hamilton. In books such as Rapid Wealth Power and Cosmic Business Control among other works.

The ability to find objective strategies that work, is the ability to basically find the several basic elements within any business, that work and repeat those actions. To give an example: through much testing by individual entrepreneurs who work in the specific area of online marketing. It has been shown, through objective identification of the facts, that trying to sell off a squeeze page, is a poor strategy (squeeze pages have been specifically covered in another article) .

But there is a more general principle that comes out of the understanding, that one cannot sell directly off a squeeze page ….that understanding is that the entrepreneur who is promoting a particular item or service does not close the sale.

The only person who ever closes a sale is the customer. This is a huge wake up call, to those with the seller mentality ….It does not work. Not only does it not work, often trying to force the close of a sale, is very counter productive.

The entrepreneur’s real goal, should be simply to get their product or service, in front of the eye-balls of as many customers as possible, and that is essentially it. No amount of hard sell will persuade the ‘potential’ customer, to become a customer. The quicker the individual entrepreneur or indeed, the sales team within a corporation ….wake up to the fact that trying to sell, is a failed business model, the quicker they can grow their business.

It follows from what has just been said, that selling is not the way of good business. Rather, simply to put a product or service in front of potential customers is the key to long term success.

But it is more than just exposing a customer, to your offer or service. The good entrepreneur knows that a happy customer, is a well looked after customer.

If you have grown a customer base, maybe through some form of lead capture. Then you should keep those customers sweet. Don’t just try to sell to your customers. Again the ‘sell’ is a bad business strategy. Rather, thing in terms of service. What can you give to your customers. Always thing in terms of better service and offering good service round the particular niche they respond to ….then, if you do put a product or service, in front of their ‘eye-balls’ you have a warm customer who is open to your offers ….why, because you have developed a trust relationship ….there is no faking here, that trust should be 100% genuine, based on quality service.

The day you wake up from the idea of trying to sell, to the idea of offering genuine service, is the day you genuinely have a chance to grow your business. By simply offering quality service, unforced sales will naturally follow.

Remember, the start of this article discussed objective marketing. There is nothing more objective, than getting down to the mathematics of your business, essentially studying the numbers ( I highly recommend the book ‘Rapid Wealth Power’ by Mark Hamilton for an understanding of the numbers in business), an example of such study, would be a simple split test of your advertising copy, integrated with autoresponder lead capture …testing the two ‘head-to-head’ ….this is what is meant by being objective within a business dynamic and cutting through subjective business actions, that are essentially shooting many business owners ‘in-the-foot’.

It is this objective study of the numbers, that has lead to the conclusion that, direct selling does not work. A basic understanding comes down to knowing, that the only person who closes the sale is the customer. You have one job in the first instance, get your product or service in front of eye-balls ….and then let them decide. If you get the customer on your side. From then on, all your business actions should be driven by good customer service.

Product Review: Web Traffic Titan

Web Traffic TitanWeb Traffic Titan is a new site that says it guarantees more web visitors and online advertising with very little effort or cost. More importantly, it promises higher CONVERSIONS–signups and sales. So I decided to put it to the test…

My first impression was the site looks professional and clean, with an attractive look and feel. It is easy to read and understand. Joining the site was easy and painless–they do offer 2 upgrade options but they are not required to gain the benefits.

The Members Area is very well laid out and intuitive–I could figure out what to do after only a few minutes and was able to get up and running in less than 5 minutes. Inside the site, you create links and ads–the links you simply enter any URL links you use into the generator and it transforms them into “Web Traffic Titan” links. You create ads for anything you want to promote using the Web Traffic Titan Ad Generator, which is very easy to use. You can create as many links and as many ads as you like. And they are organized in a logical way–links are displayed in the order you create them but also your 5 most recent links appear on the main page for quick reference. Also, since the link generator is the tool you’ll use most, it is also right at the top of the main page when you login. Very smart!

After you’ve created at least 1 link and 1 ad you can start to generate traffic. Just use and promote the new Web Traffic Titan link instead of the original source link you had. Every time the Web Traffic Titan link is clicked, the page loads followed by a small ad window in the lower right corner. It displays 3 ads PLUS an image with your affiliate link that goes back to Web Traffic Titan. So if anyone clicks the Web Traffic Titan image they see the site, and if they signup they become your referral. It’s a great viral feature because you can build referrals without even trying to just by using the site.

Now every time the ad window displays (your Web Traffic Titan links get clicked) you earn credits that get YOUR ad displayed in the ad windows when other members’ links get clicked. So the more clicks, the more times your ads get displayed.

And this works virally–meaning as you make referrals into Web Traffic Titan (either by promoting it or just using it and visitors click the Web Traffic Titan image on the ad window to join) you also earn ad credits on THEIR link clicks. And this works up to 5 levels deep. So you can create a massive amount of free ad views and web traffic by referring others to Web Traffic Titan also.

I didn’t get to test the full effect of a big downline yet (I just got the tool) but I can tell you the rest of the site works exactly as stated–my links got clicked, I earned credits, and my ads got displayed. Web Traffic Titan even tracked my results so I know how many clicks and how many ad displays. That was an impressive unadvertised extra feature.

There is one more benefit and feature which might be the best of them all–downline emailing. You can email your downline with offers, promotions, or whatever you like, and here is where Web Traffic Titan really shines. They took time to make the emailing often enough that it’s valuable as a user, but no so often that it’s a burden to your downline. But the best part about this feature (and actually the credit earning too) is that it tells you exactly how long until you can mail again. Now THAT’s cool.

Overall I have to say I am impressed with Web Traffic Titan. It is simple yet powerful, and delivers on its promises. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to increase traffic and advertising.

Niche Website Internet Marketing Tips

Where do you start in creating your Website or Blog – that when up and running will pull in visitors, that are hungry for your offer?

The key to success, in developing a niche site that will draw in potential customers, is planning. This planning is specific and follows a particular order, which is as follows:

Step 1

Firstly and perhaps most obviously, you have to select a niche, that you wish to target. How you select this niche, can be done in several ways. Perhaps the easiest way, is to follow your interests and hobbies. Do you have a particular passion …something that interests you above all else. For example, do you play a musical instrument, are you interested in a particular genre of film …to follow on from that, you could perhaps ask: who is my favorite musician, or who is my favorite actor.

If you are struggling to find a particular area of interest ….then don’t worry. You don’t necessarily have to focus on an area of immediate interest. Something that simply tweaks your interest will do just fine.

You need to realize that simply selecting an interest from your hobby or a particular passion, is not necessarily going to be the direct target, for your ‘niche audience’. That’s because what you select, may be (in-and-of-itself) too general – film genres might be an example – if global searches through Google are high with lots of competition, simply setting up a Blog or Website around film genres, will be too specifically general. In such a case, what you would be looking to do, is what follows in step 2 (keyword research).

Step 2

Once you have found an interest that you feel you want to pursue. You need to start researching, to find out whether your particular interest has ‘the-legs’ for you to pursue it as a potential niche subject. Realize, you are either going to be writing content, or sourcing content from others, to ad to your site …so you want to make sure you get your niche right, or otherwise waste precious time building up content to a site that will never get traffic. This step 2, is the most important step of all …and is key to everything else. It is this primary keyword research that acts as the foundation, upon which you built a quality niche that gets ranked high in the search engines.

So, once you have found a potential interest, or better still several interests. You need to do some keyword research. The simplest tool to use is Google’s own ‘Adwords: keyword tool’ …you won’t be using this for Adwords, just to research your niche.

The first thing to do is to set the ‘filter-types’ …under the ‘Find Keywords’ tool there’s a click-able box, that says ‘Only show ideas closely related to my search terms’ you can research with this on and off – with it off – it may come up with some niche selection possibilities you never though of – with it on – it will only specifically target relevant keywords, that you put in. One box you need to set, is the ‘Match Type’ on the left hand side of the screen – set this to ‘Exact’.

Now simply put your ‘broad’ interest in the ‘word or phrase’ box and search. So for example, on a search with the keyword term: ‘film genres’ it came back with the following phrases (for global monthly searches): for the keyword phrase film genres – 5,400 …what is interesting here is that competition is low – so there is potential here to get targeted traffic of possibly several thousand visitors per-month of this one key phrase. The other key-phrases retrieved are fairly weak, in terms of global traffic …in order of popularity they are: film genre list 390, list of film genres 390, genres of film 320, genre film 140, main film genre 110, different film genres 110, types of film genre 73 …tailing off from there.

Now if the competition for these keyword phrases was medium to high, these low monthly searches would not be worth bothering with. But every keyword phrase has low competition, and that includes the original search term ‘film genres’. This might make this niche possibly viable. You could always then search for other keyword terms within the same niche, to ramp it up a bit, which you would be scattering through your content, which we will come to in a minute.

What is particularly good about these results, is that it is getting a pretty good monthly search on a ‘two word’ key phrase ‘film genres – 5,400′ …which is great for selecting the domain name for your niche (if it’s available), the shorter and punchier the domain name, the better …and it is more memorable to return visitors. So, how do you now select your domain name, now that you have your potential keyword phrases and/or keyword …this brings us to step 3 (finding a domain name).

Step 3

This step is easy, because steps one and two …have already ‘spat-out’ the specific info you need, to get a good domain name that is going to be searched for globally, on an ongoing monthly basis. Go over to Godaddy domains search tool.. and from the ‘film genre’ scenario above, start with a ‘dot com’ address – thus, you would search the keyword phrase filmgenre (no hyphens). At the time of this article – filmgenre.com – is already taken. In this case, your next step is to try ‘dot org’ and ‘dot net’ if neither of these are available …the next step is to go for a long tail  keyword phrase that includes film genre …a good one is film genre reviews so the domain would be filmgenrereviews.com, which at the time of this article was available for about $5 dollars. Review sites are great by the way, and are a highly recommended way of setting up your niche. People after all are searching ‘by the millions’ for information, and that includes reviews of products and services.

Step 4

This step naturally follow on from the other three. You now need to write plenty of keyword rich content around your niche. Writing articles that including the keywords you have already selected and integrating them into your posts, and into your titles and URL strings of each post…. and if you are blogging through a platform such as WordPress… don’t forget to ad your keywords as tags too. If you don’t feel you are up to writing your own content, or it is something you don’t enjoy doing …you can always outsource to freelance writers – who will do it for you – at very reasonable prices. One good company that does this is Articlez.com (that’s articlez with a ‘Z’).

So, to summarize the steps to follow: the first step is to select your niche. Next is to do some keyword research, and then select a domain name based around that research …and finally start creating content.

Step 5

Is to monetize your site. I would suggest doing this after you have created some content for your site …and are starting to move up the search engine rankings – and are starting to get traffic. There are plenty of affiliate companies you can go with to monetize your site …simply do a search on Google for affiliate marketing. I recommend Clickbank as a starting point – they are highly recommended – very professional, and have never once – missed a payment to their millions of customers, another one is Amazon’s associate program, and of course …there is also Google’s Adsense – all are free to join.

Don’t be disheartened if your first niche campaign isn’t as promising as you expected it to be. You will have some failures. But if you follow this procedure with multiple niches ….essentially creating potential multiple-income-streams, you will inevitably have success – good luck.

Finding a Niche Market for Your Business

Selecting a niche for your business, goes a long way to taking the effort out of your marketing efforts. Too many individuals start up a business with a woolly mind-set…unable to categorize their business, and instead simply going for a very general audience.

Good marketing, requires clear thinking, and a direct ‘front-line-attack’, in knowing who your niche audience is going to be. Once you have selected a particular niche for your business, you will find it far easier to plan and create a template for your business. Having a niche market to aim at – focuses the mind – and forces you to think in a focused fashion.

There are several methods to identifying a potentially profitable niche. One method, is to simply direct your attention to your favorite hobby, or toward a subject, in which you are already fairly knowledgeable. Once you have decided on a possible niche market, or preferably several possibilities…then the research begins. This is where many on-line marketers fall down, they fail to research, this can be a costly error…both in time and money – never mind self-esteem.

Research is the ultimate watch word and is ahead of the – ‘word gang’ – in every marketing plan to which you are likely to partake. Research really is everything…it is the fundamental starting point. Get this right and everything else will naturally follow. Get the research wrong, then you are potentially doomed to failure, before you even start.

So, what is meant by research? – this is such a general term. Well, in terms of marketing a particular niche, it essentially means researching the viability of the niche. Is it potentially profitable…or is there too much competition. And that is essentially it. Good research is almost magical…when you have done your research well, it is like a having a ‘search engine’ in your head, that naturally ‘spits-out’ a game plan or template, that focuses your mind, in the direction you need to proceed. But an under-researched niche will leave you mentally fuzzy – and not having a direct game plan on which to proceed.

One is of course, not obligated to begin research within a niche with which they are already knowledgeable…in fact, in many cases, the niche of your interest may not be viable, in terms of competition – either too much or too little. In this case, simply start with a blank slate. Simply do some research on different subjects, and find something, that you may be interested in focusing on. If it is a viable potential niche – then go for it.

Obviously this second option, may involve more work….But you may actually benefit, in the long term from greater rewards.

Are you optimizing your Website/Blog. Optimization is a combination of many things… such as finding good keywords, and then drawing upon good content that is relative to those keywords, and capturing that content and keyword optimization – under the ‘umbrella’ of your niche.

Video Marketing Works

Making An Income From Online VideoVideo marketing online, is becoming absolutely huge. It is a highly efficient money funnel for those that know how to use it and take advantage of this way of advertising.

Many individuals are hesitant to use video in their marketing, because they think it is far more difficult than it actually is. In fact, it is no more difficult than any other form of marketing once you get to grips with it.

The beauty of video as an advertising medium, is the speed with which videos can go viral. The search engines love video and will often rank a Website or Blog high, if it is rich in video content. Do a search on Google for any product or service, and more often than not, you will find a video or two somewhere in the top five.

The ease with which video can be created and uploaded to a Blog or website or a social network site, such as Youtube, is essentially an ‘offspring’ in the advancement in easy, push button technology. Such as the ability to upload videos to the Internet straight from mobile devices.

You can use tools such as Camtastia or Camstudio to capture most of your video footage, and quickly integrate it into your Website or Blog. These software kits can also capture the whole computer screen to demonstrate a product from someone else’s website …very useful if you want to demonstrate an affiliate program and its benefits through video. Or demonstrate the benefits of a new software device that you are selling on commission.

You can also use easy movie makers such as the standard one equipped with Windows XP for example. Or you can do it in ‘the cloud’ on websites such as Jing or Animoto.

When advertising through video, what you are essentially aiming at, is being concise, and tweaking the viewers interest as rapidly as possible.

Once you have created a video, you need to tag it with relevant ‘keywords and tags’ …you may be proud of your latest video masterpiece, but it is for naught, if nobody views it. For most purposes, Google’s free (Adwords) Keyword tool does the job, just fine …or use your own preferred tool.

If you are manually submitting your video to the directories, this could be a long and painful process. Perhaps you could pay someone to do it for you – or you could try the Tubemogul website …this is free, and will allow you to submit to several video directories all at once. This is just a starting point, when you get established …you may want to crank-it-up a few notches – and start outsourcing as funds allow.

Once your videos are approved in various video directories, things will start to go viral, and you will begin to grow a steady audience.

You can even test how much feedback and traffic your site is getting, by setting up a Google alert ‘flagging’ your videos title.

Despite the growth in video marketing…. it is still a much under-used advertising medium …and there are some rich-pickings to be had – in a fairly fresh market – where there is very little saturation from over competition.

How to Rank on Search Engines

Submitting articles to the search engines is a time honored strategy for generating traffic.  It has been used since the early days of the Internet and is still an effective traffic generation strategy even in our Web 2.0 times.

There are a lot of questions over the best method of submitting articles for maximum traffic and effectiveness.  What are the best techniques and which are the most effective?

The first technique is to submit your article to the grand daddy of all article directories, Ezine Articles.  This site has built a reputation of being the best article directory in town.  It is loved by marketers and by readers and most importantly, by Google.

It is a source of frustration to many marketers who find it hard to meet the submission guidelines or cope with the timescales for articles to be approved.

However, if you read their guidelines and stick to them, your articles will get through without a hitch.

Once they are in Ezine articles you instantly receive benefits from it.  Articles in this directory tend to rank very well in Google, even without backlinks to them.

Add in a few backlinks and suddenly you find your articles are ranking in the top ten for moderately competitive keywords.  In fact, even without backlinks they can often rank well just because they are on Ezine articles.

Once your article has been published you need to do some simple backlinking to it just to give it that extra boost in the search engines.

Firstly, take your Ezine article author RSS feed and submit it to RSS directories.  You can either use a tool or do it by hand.  If you are doing it by hand, just pick the top ten directories in a Google search and that will be good enough for now.  You can always submit to more later on, so make sure you keep track of which ones you have added your feed to.

You can also use one of the many ping sites to ping your article.  This does give Ezine articles a lift, but it also gets your article noticed.

Finally, social bookmark your article.  Again, you can either use a tool or do it manually.  If your article is newsworthy and well written then you can look at adding it to sites such as Digg or Stumbleupon to get further links and traffic.

Of course, there are other article directories out there, but none of them carry the weight of Ezine articles.  Google Knoll is a current contender and is very popular with marketers who are using it to submit their articles too.  So far though, these don’t seem to be ranking as well as Ezine articles, but it is a good way to get the Big G to notice your sites.

For the other article directories it is not worth submitting articles manually to them, except maybe the top half a dozen big directories.  Many of the rest get so little traffic it is not worthwhile, except for the backlink.  Therefore you should either outsource or automate these submissions to free up your time to concentrate on building your business.

If you are submitting articles then you need to make sure they are on Ezine articles for maximum traffic.  Do some simple backlinking to your article and you will easily find your articles ranking well for their keywords and bringing you good traffic.

Time is Not Your Enemy

Time is not your enemy, despite what the old bromide might say. Time is your best friend, or at least it can be, when used in the correct way. How do you schedule your day? – do you just let it happen and do one thing after another ? …essentially on the ‘spur-of-the moment’.

Why not organize your time around particular activities. For example …make it a habit of making your important phone calls at the same hour everyday, then for the next hour concentrate on your email list, and then perhaps the content for your Website or Blog, and so on.

This way of organizing your time, virtually squeezes out inefficiency from your day …and forces you to focus, laser like on one activity at a time.

This is similar to the idea of the devision of labor …that is more-often-than-not, associated with Henry Ford: time is allocated to time stations so that one man puts in rivets all day long, and another puts on wheels. This completely revolutionized, not only the car industry, but every industry that copied the model.

What Henry Ford did through the division of labor, you can essentially do with the devision of your physical movements (this concept was brought to my attention, by Mark Hamilton) in the book: The Self Leader (a book I highly recommend).

What do you do with any tasks that don’t seem to fit your schedule, as Mark Hamilton put it: “the nit-pit work, that shoots most managers in the foot” …the answer is to allocate those tasks to one time of day too …Mark Hamilton calls it the ‘operations-mini-day (mini-days is another concept of Mark Hamilton, he essentially sees each physical movement or set of similar tasks as schedules, within their own mini-day, time slot …thus: a phone calls mini-day, a letter writing mini-day, an operations (nit-pick work) mini-day.

The Email List is Your Best Friend

Treasure your mailing list. If you have gathered a list of contacts, or you intend to …treat it as one of your most valued of all possessions. Your email list is perhaps your most valuable business asset. More valuable perhaps, than your website …however smartly you have dressed-it-up. Individuals may visit your website only once. But, treat those on your list with good customer care …and they will keep you in-pocket for; potentially at least – years to come – and your list can literally grow into an ever flowing money funnel.

Never, under any circumstance spam cold leads …only promote to a warm list of opt-in customers (and preferably double-option), who are responsive to your niche…. and are interested in what you offer and particularly what you have to say… in this, content really is king.

And, if you don’t yet have a list of customers, and you intend to build one. Prepare first… don’t ‘put-the-cart-before-the-horse’ by gathering a list…. and then realize you are unprepared …if you have to ask: “what should I do when I get a prospect”? – then you are quite simply, not prepared. You should know exactly what you are going to do with a lead when you get it…. and foremost above all else, is to welcome your potential new customer.

After the welcome …which is obviously the easy bit. You should have everything prepared for follow up, for example:

1. Do you have a prepared script …that you can automate through an auto-responder.

2. And indeed, do you have your auto-response system set up, and ready to go, when a new lead comes in.

3. Are you prepared for questions …something a customer might throw at you …that otherwise might potentially ‘throw’ you.

4. And to follow on from point three …are you up to date on the information within the niche you are promoting …in other words ‘are you an expert’ in your field? …this does not necessarily mean, you have to be a ‘geek’ about it, and know absolutely everything, but you should at least know your sources, so you can do a quick search for a good answer to a customer (or indeed a potential customer’s) question.

Good and well thought out email marketing, is almost unbeatable. Getting visitors to a website or Blog, is not always easy. When they do get there – you should have your site optimized – with ‘lead-capture’ …perhaps by offering a newsletter or a free gift of some-kind. In all your marketing tactics, in all you do …you should be constantly thinking in terms of what can I give to the customer: a USP (Unique Selling Proposition) applies to your Website or Blog, just as it does to any traditional off-line business. If you are going to build a good and lasting mailing list – you must make it relevant to your particular niche.

Those are just a few pointers to get you thinking… the key point is to value your list highly. After all they are not just leads …they are individuals, treat them with respect and you will have a life-long good relationship with your customers.
